British War Medal 1914-1920 awarded to Private James (Jim) Woodards of the Army Service Corps (ASC). Woodards joined the ASC during WW1 (probably in early 1915) and served in the 319th Motor Transport Company. He drove lorries in France. This medal was designed by W McMillan and was granted to all men who served in a theatre of war or overseas between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918. The design on the reverse depicts a male figure on horseback trampling underfoot the shield of the Central Powers (Germany and its allies) and a skull and cross-bones, with the rising sun of victory above.
