Description: | A fragment from a medieval finger-ring, iconographic in form; half of the ring survives, consisting of the bezel and part of the hoop. The hoop has two bands, which are beaded and filled with engraved leaves. The bezel has three vertical bands arranged to form a Nativity scene. On the left the Archangel Gabriel announces the news of Christ's imminent birth to the Virgin Mary on the right. In the centre is a large pot containing a lily, the symbol of the Virgin Mary. The finger-ring is silver-gilt and dates from the late fifteenth or early sixteenth century.
