Description: | Nine Iron Age coins were recovered by a number of metal-detector users at an organised metal-detecting rally in the parish of Stixwould and Woodhall, Lincolnshire. Seven of these coins were reported to the Finds Liaison Officer at the rally and brought to the British Museum in October 2008. Two of the nine coins found at the rally were subsequently reported to the Finds Liaison Officers for Yorkshire and brought to the museum on 7th November (T489d (coin no.14) and T489e (coin no.13)). Seven further coins were recovered by metal-detecting on the site on 20th September and brought to the British Museum in October 2008.The sixteen coins consist of fourteen gold staters and two silver units. The gold and silver coins are of types originating in the North-Eastern area (the area thought to have been inhabited by the people known as the Corieltauvi during the late Iron Age). The staters date to the period about 60 BC to 20BC; with one dating to the period 20BC to 10 AD and the silver units have a date range from 50 BC to AD 10. The coins are summarised below:1.
