Description: | Complete, but heavily worn, cast copper alloy seal matrix of Medieval date. The seal is flat, circular in plan & of smaller than average size for such seals. The design on the front of the seal is too worn to decipher but clearly consisted of a central design with lettering surrounding this. The pierced mid-rib forming the attachment loop is still present on the rear of the seal.Seals of this type are typically dated c.1200-1400.
