Description: | A copper-alloy gaming counter or token in the form of a "spade" half-guinea depicting George III and dated 1793. The legends around the perimeter of the token correspond to those on a genuine half-guinea of this date and make this a contemporary token as opposed to those produced in the 19th Century which bore false or advertising legends. The obverse reads GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA.The reverse reads M.B.F.ET.H.REX.F.D.B.ET.L.D.S.R.I.A.T.ET.E. //1793Die axis is 12 o'clock. There are also the letters S T M below the bust which are likely to be the initials of the maker.
