Description: | 2012 T857 Bedworth hoard 2nd addenda, Warwickshire Report for HM CoronerCircumstances of discovery: Three gold coins were found whilst metal detecting on arable land near Bedworth in Warwickshire on 19th November 2012. They were found on the same property as a hoard of eleven Iron Age gold coins discovered in 1994 (with an addenda of two gold coins and a fragment (which joined with a fragment from the first find) found in 2011 (2011 T189). The coins were reported to the Portable Antiquities Scheme and brought to the British Museum on 14th December 2012.Description: The present find comprises three Iron Age gold coins; one is a North Eastern inscribed stater of VEP CORF and the other two are uninscribed North Eastern gold staters. The uninscribed staters were struck in the Lincolnshire/Leicestershire area in about 20BC-AD20. VEP CORF staters were struck in the Lincolnshire/Leicestershire area in about AD 20-50. Coins from this region are generally attributed to the Corieltavi, who are known to have inhabited this area during the Roman period (and perhaps before). North Eastern coins are occasionally found as far south-west as Warwickshire. The coins can be summarised as:Uninscribed North Eastern 'Kite' type stater (three pellets in diamond-shaped lozenge), ABC 1761 / VA 825 var. / BMC 3181 var.Diameter: 20mm; weight: 5.30g.Uninscribed North Eastern 'Domino' type stater, ABC 1758 / VA 829 / BMC 3185.
