Description: | A cast lead alloy figurine Madonna-and-child figurine of probable Post-Medieval date. The object is a solid cast three-dimensional piece with moulded surface detail. Mary is depicted standing, facing forward and wearing a long, loose robe. Jesus is held by her left arm so that their faces touch. The figurine stands upon an integrally cast rectangular base, the edges of which are broken. The heads of the Madonna and child and the elbows of Mary have been broken in recent times. The object has a dark grey patina where it remains.A similar example which can be found on the database is Collins, R (2009) NCL-F0AD75 A POST MEDIEVAL FIGURINE Webpage available at: http://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/263284.
