Description: | A Post Medieval lead alloy token, probably dating to the 16th - 17th century. This token has a cast pattern on both sides. On one side there appears to be a central cross rising from the centre of a horizontal B or 3 with a W to the left of the cross. This may be a merchant's mark or other monogram suggesting this would be Powell Class 20. On the other side there is a pattern possibly showing a bucket with a bar passing through the handle and another element attached to the handle. The dating is suggested based on the style of the letter W which comprises two Vs overlapping, there are tokens with similar Ws illustrated in Egan (2005:168-170) no. 902 comes from a context dated 1530-1550 and no. 933 from a context dating 1675-1700.Dimensions: diameter: 11.49mm; weight: 0.82g.Reference: Egan, G. 2005. Material Culture in London in an Age of Transition. MoLAS Monograph 19. English Heritage: London.
