Description: | A complete medieval copper-alloy zoomorphic mount or binding strip from a box or casket (c. 1100-c. 1200).The front is moulded with zoomorphic decoration ending in a possible but unclear animal-head terminal, with a pronounced snout but other features that are not very distinctive. Two corroded iron rivets are extant, one through the head and one close to the attachment end. The rear face is flat. The mount is corroded with iron staining at the front and rear.Length: 31.71mm; width: 7.85mm; thickness: 4.94mm. Weight: 4.09g.
