Description: | Hammered copper trade token or farthing dating from the late post-medieval period, that is c. the 17th century. It is a trade token of William Lodge of Bedale with the shield on the reverse showing the Mercers' arms.. Williamson (Yorkshire) 19 (p. 1309). The inscription is illegible but would have contained William's name and the date, probably 1664 (?) on the obverse.
