Description: | An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy circular seal matrix (1250-1400).The majority of the suspension loop and the edges of the die are missing due to breaks. The handle is hexagonal in cross-section and tapers to the suspension loop. Viewing an impression, the die has a hare sejant facing left with a circle forming an inner border. At 9 o' clock there is a six-pointed star initial mark followed by the inscription:PRIVE SV (I am private)There may have been a circular border outside the inscription prior to breakage.This seal matrix has a shiny green patina with small areas of corrosion. There is no wear and the breaks are old.Height: 15.34mm; width: 16.01mm. Weight: 4.35g.
