Description: | An incomplete lead cloth seal of post-medieval date. The seal is of the two disc type though the majority of the reverse disc has been lost along with the connecting strip. It is circular in shape and flat and the front is decorated with a coat of arms and the date 1663.This cloth seal relates to the city of Strasbourg in the Alsace region of eastern France. It contains the arms of the city in an ornate shield. Strasbourg produced linen-warp serges, bays, says and tapestry. This seal forms part of a series of dated seals bearing the arms of the city.
