Description: | This is a model of the South Shields lifeboat 'Willie Wouldhave'. The boat was named after William (or Willie) Wouldhave from South Shields who came up with a design for a self-righting lifeboat in 1789. 'Willie Wouldhave' was built in 1887 by the boatbuilder Jackson and operated by the Tyne Lifeboat Trustees.
