Description: | 35mm slide of the gravestone of William Wouldhave, and his wife Hannah, in St Hilda’s churchyard, South Shields. The gravestone has a poem on it written in old English, and is lying flat on the ground as the churchyard is no longer in use and is now a small park. He was the inventor of the Lifeboat and clerk of St Hilda’s church. He died on September 28th 1821 aged 70, his wife died on March 28th 1824 aged 78. The slide was probably taken in the 1980s or 1990s.
