Figure of a sailor made of soft paste porcelain, painted in blue, brown, black and iron red overglaze enamels and gilt.
Private:
Figure of a sailor dressed in jacket, waistcoat and three quarter length wide trousers, all plain white with gilt patterns and detail. Scarf knotted loosely round neck, pale blue with darker blue spots, and black and gilt tricorn hat with pipe tucked into stitching on one side. Pink flesh coloured hands and face, with rouged cheeks and red lips. He stands with legs slightly apart, head turned to his left, his left arm outstretched with hand open to show three coins in his palm, right arm behind carrying whip. Plain white tree stump base, with two clumps of sprigged flowers, on scrolling symmetrical rococo base, picked out in gilt. shape : 316
