Description: | This print is a portrait bust of an elderly man, only his head and the tops of his shoulders are shown. It shows the subject facing the viewer and looking to the left, the three quarter angle allowing the artist to capture a larger portion of the sitters face than if it were in profile. He is dressed in formal wear, as he is wearing a suit, shirt and a bow tie. There is no background detail which means that all of the viewers attention focuses on the portrait. It is a very detailed print, fine hatching has been used to create subtle modulations in light and shade and to give greater precision.
Technique: lithograph
medium: ink (black)
