Description: | A reproduction produced by the Vasari Society of a drawing by Rubens. The drawing is a landscape populated by many trees. The trees have tall, thin, willowy trunks. There is a section of wooden fence to the left of the drawing, and another in the immediate foreground. The drawing appears slightly smudged and faded, which lends a misty look to the landscape.
Text from the accompanying booklet produced by the Vasari Society:
"12.
RUBENS
(b. 1577; d. 1640)
LANDSCAPE
Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. Presented to the University by Mr. Chambers Hall, 1855. From the Lanckrink Collection. Black and white chalk, with slight touches of red, on stone-coloured paper. 38.3 x 49.9 cm. (15 1/16 x 19 5/8 in.).
A very beautiful example of Rubens's sensitive drawing of landscape, comparable in style to a drawing in the British Museum, reproduced by the Vasari Society (Vol. II, No. 25). The slight touches of red have been omitted in the reproduction.
