Description: | A reproduction produced by the Vasari Society of a drawing from the Florentine School, possibly by Andrea del Sarto. The drawing is in red chalk and shows a draped figure standing with his head looking downwards and his left arm leaning on a ledge to the right. The man is engaged in some kind of movement as his right foot is raised and his right arm is held slightly out at his side rather than hanging down naturally.
Text from the accompanying booklet produced by the Vasari Society:
"No. 5
FLORENTINE SCHOOL (ANDREA DEL SARTO?)
(circa 1511)
STUDY OF A DRAPED FIGURE
Colelction of Mr. C. Ricketts and Mr. C. Shannon. Sanguine.
25.5 x 17 cm. (10 1/16 x 6 5/8 in.)
Judging by the treatment of the hair and drapery this delicate drawing should be an early study by Sarto; it still shows the influence of Fra Bartolommeo."
