Description: | A reproduction produced by the Vasari Society of a drawing by Hans Sebald Beham. It is a circular composition with the figure of Christ standing on the left facing towards the right, with a man behind him in dressed as a soldier. Chirst has his head bowed and his hands tied in front of his; he has a halo behind his head. There are two figures in the centre background, one of whom is wearing a hat with a feather. On top of two circular steps on the right is standing a man looking towards the figure of Christ. This man has a cane in his left hand and he is wearing a large hat. Through an archway in the left background can be seen the tops of trees in the landscape beyond.

One of a series of Passion drawings designed for round panes of glass, others of which are preserved at Oxford (Ashmolean Museum) and Frankfurt-on-Main (Städel'sches Kunstinstitut). Characteristic early works of Beham (1520 or thereabouts). This drawing was photographed for the Vasari Society in 1908, while in the possession of Messrs. Obach & Co.
