Description: | Probably Spanish or Portuguese blade. On one side part of an inscription remains "Iro", with a cross on a globe. On the other side a date, 1634, with a helmet and plume above it. On the back of the blade is an inscription in Nagari, translated by Captain Eastwick to be the names of a ruler of Nagpore in 1755, of the Bhonslee family, "Shrimat Janagi Bhonslee sen Sahib". The hilt is covered all over with a floral diaper in koftgari gold inlay. The guard and thumb-guard are 5cm broad. The Spike of the pommel is 10.2cm long. The shield of the pommel is saucer-shaped. The blade is strengthened by a portion of the hilt projecting 10.2cm beyond the tang of the blade.
