Description: | A three quarter, right side, portrait of a bearded gentleman in seventeenth century dress with wide lace falling collar and cloak over one shoulder, his left hand is raised to keep his cloak in place, a ring is visible on his fourth finger. A second ring is tied to his necklace. This painting perhaps marks the betrothal to his wife, portrayed in an accompanying painting. His jacket has a high neck with a lace trim on the cuffs and there is a sash across his chest. The sitter looks straight at the viewer. There is an oval painted frame and an unrecognisable coat of arms is in the top left corner. The painting marks the age of the gentleman as '27' in the top right-hand corner.
medium: oil paint on panel
